Auri
Auri is a long coated, black sable German Shepherd of mostly East German (DDR) bloodlines. She is an extraordinary working dog, having received four national SAR  certifications before the age of two.  Certified in tracking, trailing, air scent area search, cadaver and human remains.  Auri is a special resource for the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Child  Abduction Task Force. She has an impressive search record with many live and cadaver finds.

Auri has readily picked up anything I have ever tried to teach her, but as my first search dog, she has taught me so much more than I have taught her.  Here she is doing bite work for fun, but her 'real' job, first and foremost, is finding the lost and missing.   Auri obtained her CGC title at 9 months and impressed evaluators when, at only 10 months old, she
nationally certified as a Search and Rescue Dog (Scent Specific Trailing), followed by certifying in Air Scent Area Search and  Police Tracking (footstep/ground disturbance) at a year and a half.

Shodo
Shodo is a black sable German Shepherd of pure Czech bloodlines, linebred on Norbo Ben Ju. In his lifetime, her grandsire was one of fewer than one hundred certified FEMA Advanced Level One SAR Disaster Dogs in the US.  Shodo adores people and is a focused, meticulous worker with  extraordinary scenting capabilities and extreme hunt and bring drives. She excels in any job given her yet has an "off switch".

Pike
Pike is a black sable, long coated German Shepherd of pure East German (DDR)  bloodlines.  His breeder had one of her pups go on to work human remains recovery at Ground Zero, 9/11.   Loyal, extremely tenacious offering real protection,  Pike is my constant companion and PPD.

Kola, 5 weeks old
PictureKola

Kola-
From the beginning Kola has been very biddable, always the first to come when called, always wanting to please. With a good, deep nose, she excels in SAR trailing, but thrives on any scent work
.   She is social with other dogs and is cordial with human strangers, eliciting smiles and compliments everywhere she goes.  Appropriately protective of her property, she is very affectionate and loyal to her people.

Gracie, 10 weeks old
PictureGracie

Gracie- Gracie is a thinker.  She is wickedly smart, loves to work, is always up for a game of ball but also has a nice "off switch" when not working. Athletic and agile, I have yet to find an obstacle or surface that she won't attempt to go over, under, or through, just for the fun of it.  She is a good guardian of her property, is neutral with other dogs, is generally aloof with strangers but displays great affection towards her own humans.

Bridger
Bridger is the dog that started it all.  While not my first German Shepherd, he was the first to hold a huge piece of my heart, and still does.  He is the dog I've tried to replace, but can't.  He was my soul dog.  Bridger came to me as a started police K9 whose handler had passed away.  He was in need of an experienced home and that, I could provide.   He was my once in a lifetime dog, incredible on every level.

Bridger died of
Degenerative Myelopathy- DM.   I would say to anyone looking at buying a German Shepherd pup- MAKE SURE THE PARENTS HAVE BEEN SCREENED for DM.  This disease is completely avoidable through inexpensive genetic testing and responsible breeding.  Unfortunately, the test wasn't yet available in Bridger's time.

Bridger will forever be missed, but he appropriately now rests with a human police officer.... my son.

Picture
Bailey
Bailey....... a dog of lessons, loyalty, and love.

Bailey was a shelter rescue, so sick and terrified that she wasn't allowed out of the back room, cowering in her own waste, no one able to get close to her.  She was only 6 months old.  I took her home to nurse her back to health with the idea I'd just be fostering and would find her a good home.   She found the good home right here and never left.   She was a challenge, but she wasn't loved any less because of it.  She forced me to grow in my relationships with dogs.  Such a teacher, such a spirit.....she will be missed.

Rest in peace sweet Bailey, Nick and Bridger are waiting for you.
